Overcoming Hardship and Adversity

Times & Seasons Equals Character Building

Success comes at a price—a high one at that. It is hard to see anyone who stumbled upon success suddenly. Most times, such people stumble out of success because they have not developed the character it takes to sustain success. True success comes from God. That does not mean you should lie down on your bed and wait for God to bless you with success. With hard work, perseverance, consistency, tolerance, discipline and commitment to your God-given vision, God will crown your effort with success. Such success is the type that can be sustained because you have built the necessary character that it takes to be successful.

Many people set out to create their own success stories, leaving God out of the picture, most of those successes you see are gotten on altars of heavy sacrifice. The devil has been known to grant impatient individuals a false type of success but at a high price. The devil is the father of lies and will never give anything for free. Many, thinking they are taking the easy route to success, have done many abominable things in order to become successful. Let us take a closer look at the story of Joseph and how he overcame adversity to reach greatness.

Story Time

Joseph was a young man envied by his brothers, he was a son born at Jacob’s old age therefore Jacob loved him very much and made Joseph his favorite. This was evident to his other brothers. Besides being his daddy’s favorite son, Joseph had several strange dreams indicating that his brothers and parents would someday bow to him. Because his brothers were jealous of his glory and strange dreams, they sold him into slavery.

Life is a journey and I have learnt that no matter what you face in life the ability to get back on your feet and keep going makes all the difference to whether or not we get to achieve our goals, visions and dreams.

I have been away for so long on this platform, I will like to apologies to my avid readers who constantly look forward to my weekly posts and have received non for a while now. But the good news is while I was away I took the opportunity to work on something else something that I feel is extremely important for survival in this ever changing world. I took out time to redefine what is most important to me and for me its having a relationship with my heavenly father.

​THE 48 LAWS OF POWER (Book Review)

 

Power has always been one of the most craved commodities throughout history from the cave man to the screen swiping man. Time has not depleted man’s thirst for power. Robert Greene the author of the book  “The 48 Laws of Power” doesn’t just give us a peek into the minds of some of the most powerful people in history, he is generous and explicit about the workings of  the canny , intelligent, ruthless and crafty minds of this  great men  and women . The book has a rich cultural diversity as the author regales the reader with stories from different parts of the world.

Sincerely when I first saw the book the title alone put me off, it sounded like a book for power crazy people who only seek to control and manipulate others. But soon enough my perspective changed and I decided it would be good to equip myself with this knowledge. Human behavior is complex and sometimes unpredictable; as I read the book I began to understand the behavior of those around me in relation to power and manipulation and most importantly the motives behind those behaviors.

LAW 1: “NEVER OUTSHINE THE MASTER”

Always make those above you feel comfortably superior. In your desire to please or impress them, do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite that is inspire fear and insecurity. Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power.

LAW 4: “ALWAYS SAY LESS THAN NECESSARY”

When you are trying to impress people with words, the more you say the more common you appear and the less in control. Even if you are saying something banal, it would seem more original if you make it vague, open-ended, and sphinxlike. Powerful people impress and intimidate by saying less. The more you say, the more likely you are to say something foolish.

GOALS!

 

Setting and meeting up with goals takes determination and discipline, Brain Tracy’s book ‘’GOALS’’ illuminates easy step by step methods to set realistic goals and live up to them, when I first came across this book, at the beginning of this year (2016) i read the book and set goals for myself, am halfway through the year and when I reviewed the goals I set at the beginning of the year I found out that I had accomplished at least 70% of them.

 

This book it has changed my goal setting abilities and helped me live up those goals, what am doing now is reviewing those goals I couldn’t achieve and setting new ones to accomplish them. Goal setting and following through with your goals is a process, it takes time but it’s totally worth it.

 

 

 

Everyone has a dream whether it is to one day own a big business or to be able to speak a certain language, a key instruments towards achieving your dreams is to set goals towards these dreams, goals bring you closer to your dreams. They create an internalized atmosphere towards achieving things you once thought were impossible. Here are a few quotes from the book

 

• “You can learn anything you need to learn to accomplish any goal you can set for yourself.” No one is smarter than you and no one is better than you. All business skills, sales skills and moneymaking skills are learnable.
